Retroformer is a platformer/puzzler currently in development for web, PC and mac with planned ports to iOS and Android.
Retroformer's main feature is the ability to create totally custom maps using any image editor you have at hand, or the built in level editor. Simply use our colour reference guide to create your map pixel by pixel, and upload it into Retroformer by URL to play right away! Please note your level file must be a .PNG and has a few requirements, detailed below.
With Retroformer you can create both puzzles and action based platforming levels, not to mention some extremely challenging tests of skill!
---As of 25th June 2012, Retroformer is in it's alpha phase of development!
Next 2 planned updates:
-0.1.1: -in game music loops start to be implemented
-error messages when import fails
-0 grav areas
-0.1.2: -Add more blocks
-Ice
-bomb + weak areas to blow through
-Key counter done

Current picture requirements
To make the import work correctly your custom map needs to be WITHOUT Gamma information (the gAMA and sRGB channels). Luckily we've found and created two applications (for Windows and Mac) to remove these channels quickly and painlessly. (If you have PhotoShop, good for you, we believe you can save files without this information. However, we have not tested PhotoShop's save capabilities, so if unsure run it through one of our gAMA removal packages.)
Good news if you use the in game level editor - you don't have to worry about this, as the picture is saved without any of the layers that can mess the import up.
